Yu-chuan Chen
Visiting Assistant Professor of Art History

Yu-chuan Chen, received his PhD in art history from Stanford University. He specializes in East Asian religious art and visual culture, and is broadly trained in Chinese and Japanese art. His research, teaching, and curatorial practice explore the interconnectedness among humans, natural organisms, and the physical environment, transcending sectarian, interdisciplinary, and regional divides to embrace environmentalism and ecology—topics deeply and broadly relevant to contemporary as well as historical life. Additional teaching and research interests include mushroom culture, Chinese fengshui (geomancy), garden design, landscape, and transcultural art movements.
